About Mason

Camp & Scouting Report — Phenom America National 150 Camp, California — August 2, 2026

Mason Hays is a premier player and without question ranked among the top performers out of more than 500 participants. His combination of basketball IQ, skill development, competitiveness, and coachability separated him from his peers throughout the week.

He possesses an exceptionally high basketball IQ and demonstrated an outstanding ability to absorb instruction. He approached every teaching session like a sponge, consistently applying new concepts immediately during drills and live competition. His willingness to learn and make adjustments is one of his greatest strengths and will continue to accelerate his development.

Despite competing on a team with limited numbers, he never allowed fatigue to affect his effort. He competed in every drill, every game, and every conditioning segment with relentless energy, consistently giving 120% effort. His motor, toughness, and competitive spirit were evident every time he stepped onto the floor.

Offensively, he is a complete scorer. He is capable of putting points on the board from all three levels with impressive efficiency. He understands how to use ball screens at an advanced level, creating separation with patience and precision. His step-back dribble is highly effective, allowing him to consistently create space for one of the deadliest midrange jump shots in camp. In addition, he is a reliable three-point shooter who stretches defenses and makes opponents pay for leaving him open.

Beyond his scoring ability, he is an excellent facilitator who understands how to involve teammates and elevate the play of those around him. He makes unselfish decisions, reads defenses well, and consistently creates quality opportunities for others. His leadership, court vision, and team-first mentality make him a player that coaches can trust in critical situations.

He projects to make an immediate impact at the varsity level next season and has the talent, work ethic, and basketball instincts to continue climbing. With continued development, he possesses all the tools necessary to become a legitimate NCAA Division I basketball player.
